Spa Do’s & Don’ts

  • The Bottom Line

We are a pretty easy going, keen to please, and intent on making your spa experience as pleasurable as possible. Please don’t be embarrassed or hesitant should you have any other questions, comments or concerns, all will be treated confidentially. Our goal is for you to enjoy.

  • The Send Off

At the end of your treatment, when they tell you to “take your time getting up”, it’s not an invitation to take a nap.

In an ideal world, it’s good to let the skin soak up the oils for an hour or two afterward our procedure. If ‘greaser’ isn't your look, then feel free to take a quick shower when you get back to your home or hotel.

  • Waxing & Waning

The bottom line is that waxing doesn’t tickle, it stings, but at least it’s quick. After they’ve removed your body hair, avoid soaps and shower gels in your first hair-less shower as they can cause the pores to be clogged but from there on out, keep your hair-less area clean. Redness or a slight rash is typical, especially with wax-rookies, but we use the best wax available, and the more often you come in, the more accustomed your skin and hair become to waxing. Four to six weeks between treatments is fairly standard. Waxing when sunburned is out of the question, unless you’re a glutton for punishment.

And guys, what if you get a woody while getting a male Brazilian? Well so what. Look, our therapists are professionals. They are not there to play with it but to remove the hair from it. It’s actually good if you do (get a woody) because the skin is tighter, and it will hurts less… plus the endorphins….. Ok, you get the picture… So chill! Seriously… during the waxing procedure, the therapist constantly pulls the skin tight in the area that is worked on, before pulling the wax off. This ensures the follicles are close to the skin. Believe it or not guys, it’s probably one of our most requested waxing treatments.

  • Saving Face

Before a facial it is not necessary to shave. A little stubble never hurt but three days past a five o'clock shadow defeats the purpose. A heavy beard prohibits all that skin goodness from sinking in. If you do shave every day, be sure to shave at least 3 hours prior to your skin treatment.

  • Stripping Off

What to wear, or not to wear, is a surprisingly big concern when it comes to spa treatments.

Once our therapist has collected you, they should say what clothing to take off, leave on, where to put it and how to position yourself. They will then give you a few minutes of privacy to get sorted.

The usual rule for a female for a facial is to put on wrap provided by the spa. It is best to take it all off (including jewelry), pop yourself on the bed and cover yourself with the sheet and blanket provided.

Our therapists are experts in privacy movements so any worries about resembling a stark naked starfish can be put to rest. And even if they weren’t, no one is looking, they’ve seen it all before and nor do they care – so relax.

Spa Tips

  • Facial

Do not book a facial on the day of any major event, such as dinner or cocktail party, wedding, Bar or Bat Mitzvah as exfoliation and clearing your face of pores such as blackheads may leave your skin with a hint of redness. Always book one to three days beforehand.

Don't stress out over which facial suits your skin's needs. Our experts will make that decision for you based on your skin analysis, which takes place five minutes into the facial treatment. We will also make you aware of the price change before we begin. We won't put you in an awkward situation at checkout time.

If you're allergic to anything, please make us aware ahead of time.

All of our beauty-enhancing spa treatments are completely safe. Don't let the word "Microdermabrasion" or "Chemical Peel" put your nervous system on turbo. They are just big words that will only unveil your beauty and handsomeness.

We use a variety of products for our facials which are all natural and whose core ingredients come from plants and essential oils - excellent for any skin type!

At the end of your facial, the esthetician will make a product recommendation for at-home usage depending on your skin needs.

Our product price range goes from $45 to $115. We won't surprise you with a $250 1 ounce moisturizer.

We recommend a facial at least every four to six weeks for better long-lasting results.

  • Hair Removal

If you currently shave the area to be waxed, wait at least two weeks to book with us. Your hair may be too short otherwise.

If you're making a transition from shaving to waxing, you will feel the discomfort a little more since your hair has thickened.

If you maintain the waxing method it gets better and easier for you, for us. And we will always recommend products for you to use at home for post-care treatment.

Do not work out or perform sweat-stimulating activities for the first 24 hours after treatment, as it can irritate the skin.

Use cool or tepid water when you shower.
